Heart: Flatline to Finish Line

This feature-length documentary will take you on a journey of despair and triumph, of sacrifice and glory. Featuring original music by indie darling Cloud Cult, and interviews with some of the biggest names in endurance sport and cardiology, it will inspire you to examine your own life and encourage you to fill it full of HEART.

Total runtime: 98 minutes, Release: Streaming platforms / DVD

How it Happened

First time director David Watkins nearly died on an operating table from complications after open-heart surgery. After recovering, rather than feeling depressed, he decided to kick his life into high gear. Twelve months after surviving a heart-stopping episode and subsequent stroke he finished his first IRONMAN® Triathlon.

After conquering one of the world's most grueling endurance events he began searching the globe for people like him who have serious heart defects but can't help but compete in endurance sport. As momentum built and the Ironheart Foundation formed, he figured, "why not document this?".
